I teach people to be real: realistically and responsibly real. My courses are about being person-centred (customer-centred, if you like) and they allow you the chance to be with others in a way that is genuine, non-judgemental and empathic. To develop these essential qualities, you need self awareness. This will provide you with what you can bring to the relationship and as important, what you may decide to leave out. You need to learn how to be responsible FOR yourself, whilst remaining responsible TO the other person. Get it the other way round, and things could get tricky.

I provide a structured and safe space where you can learn this way of being. Along with a solid grounding in the theory, which is evidence based and continues to be actively researched by the person centred global community, there are lots of practical exercises and so no chance of being bored. There are six necessary and sufficient conditions to being realistically and responsibly real. Do you want to know what they are?

My background as Course Director of Counselling Skills at UEA has given me years of experience working in this way.  By bringing these skills to those outside the Counselling room, individuals discover that they can bring more of themselves to their relationships, and organisations discover that they can reap the benefits.I provide education, training and personal development programmes that give people the space to reflect on who they are now, whilst exploring how much more they can be. The learning is self discovered and relevant.  It is learning that lasts.

Times are hard and individuals and organisations need to look at training needs and costs very carefully.  I, as a trainer, need to respond to these uncertain times by offering programmes that are adaptable and flexible.  I hope you will find a course on this website that suits you.  If it's not there, let me know and perhaps I can do something about it.  In the meantime, here are five reasons why you should work with me!

My courses improve morale

Individuals get the time to think about themselves and to reflect on their practice.  This is a tangible demonstation of support; which feels very important now,  particularly when there is so much uncertainty.

They encourage motivation and commitment

Individuals have the opportunity to reflect on the way they do things; giving them a chance to 'own' what they do and understand why they do it.  They can begin to feel empowered.

They enable people to deal with change more effectively

By learning with others in a safe and supportive environment, individuals discover their strengths, work on areas that are more challenging and become more open to the possibility of change.  This is self-directed learning and everyone works at a pace that feels right for them.

They help people work at their full capacity

Self awareness increases; self confidence and self esteem can grow and the result is that individuals brings more of themselves into their relationships, either at work or home.

They encourage an increased motivation to collaborate and be more creative

By developing the skills of communicating empathy and respect for others; and through noticing difference and diversity, individuals can form new relationships and work in a way that feels more fulfilling.
We work on how we might be perceived by others, and through using this feedback individuals begin to recognise what feels appropriate in their role at work or home. Active Listening Skills encourage relationships that are genuine and more meaningful.  People begin to trust themselves and each other.
