This workshop will provide opportunities for participants to explore how they feel about working in a group, and what they can contribute that will make the experience more 'effective' for them and the group itself. Individuals will be asked to draw on their own experience of working in groups or teams and will be encouraged to share this with the rest of the group. Using key texts (Tuckman, 1965; Adair, 1986 and Mearns, 1997) participants will gain an awareness of how groups work, and what can help/hinder their process. We will:
- develop strategies which encourage us to make future group working situations more effective
- develop our understanding of the subjectivity of perception
- experience the challenge of giving and receiving feedback
- become more aware of how and why we behave as we do in a group
Please see Counselling Skills/Theory courses where you can explore your use of self within a group environment.
